Last week saw Operation BIRD hit London’s busiest shopping street with outstanding success. The operation was led by National Business Crime Solution supported by The Athelney Group and their Safer Detention Unit (SDU) which is produced by Frocester Group.
The 6 hour operation resulted in 19 detentions and 16 arrests for crimes such as pickpocketing, fraud, violent shop theft and prolific offenders wanted for series of crimes.
Three SDUs were positioned in the heart of the operation and available for private security teams to securely hold suspects for their initial detention until the arrival of police. The suspects care and welfare were fully monitored on CCTV and audio in a safe and secure environment. This released the security staff to complete statements and to return to their stores or the streets. On arrival of police, they entered a safe and controlled situation.
All believed that this new safe and secure holding option would allow them to manage initial investigations safely, reducing violence and aggression. This makes them feel safer and in turn makes their investigation more efficient.
The SDUs are the first wholly produced Frocester Group product using a combination of the main services the Group provides. Metalwork precisely manufactured by Frocester Engineering, electrics installed by Frocester Electrical and CCTV along with audio provided by Frocester Security.
The SDUs can be installed in under 40 minutes and in any location. They can improve security and safety for staff and suspects, reducing potential for conflict and improving performance for less than a few cups of coffee per day!
